The Arts and Crafts movement was an international trend in the decorative and fine arts that developed earliest and most fully in the British Isles and subsequently spread across the British Empire and to the rest of Europe and America. Initiated in reaction against the perceived impoverishment of the decorative arts and the conditions in which they were produced, the movement flourished in Europe and North America between about 1880 and 1920. In Japan it emerged in the 1920s as the Mingei movement. 

It stood for traditional craftsmanship, and often used medieval, romantic, or folk styles of decoration. It advocated economic and social reform and was anti-industrial in its orientation. It had a strong influence on the arts in Europe until it was displaced by Modernism in the 1930s,and its influence continued among craft makers, designers, and town planners long afterwards.

Svetlana Belovodova is one of Russian craftswoman who lives and works in the city of Dmitrov, Moscow region create  all these miniature painting. Svetlana Belovodova loves her profession – to create beautiful fairy tales embodied in copyright exclusive handmade jewellery, miniature lacquer caskets and small panels. She also paints portraits in her fabulous technique. Svetlana Belovodova loves working with stones, beads, combining lacquer technique with embroidery and painting. The combination of realistic painting with decorative relief – makes painting more harmoniously with the stones and beads embroidery, weaving various embroidery techniques and the use of completely different materials make this thing rustling in the woods, in a whisper of leaves, stir in the herbs. Miniature painting has became her profession since she graduated with honors from glorious Fedoskino art school in 1996. Svetlana is a Member of the Union of Artists arts and crafts of Russia (2004).

In this series of artworks they're explored the details of a face and expression of a human being through different layers of papers and colors. All the artwork made are completely hand cut and hand painted on paper with a paper cutting knife and acrylic colors and assembled carefully to perfection.The artwork are made in different layers to give depth and a tactile feeling to the artwork so it appears more real to the viewer.

A lot of work goes on behind the scenes before Verniy creates his artwork. He observes his creations’ living counterparts to ensure that he captures their movements just right. Then, he assembles them from various pieces of scrap metal – old car parts, bike parts, clock movements, tableware, and anything else that fits.

Olga Voronova, a Russian master of string art has been creating string art compositions since for more than twenty years. String art was invented by a mathematician. A self-taught mathematician Mary Everest Boole invented this art form at the end of the 19th century. And soon, it became popular among the folk masters of England. In short, to create a string art image you need thread, wire, or string wound around a grid of nails hammered into a velvet-covered wooden board. Born in the Siberian city of Omsk, she graduated from Yaroslavl art college in 1978. Since 1993 she has worked as a teacher of additional education teaching her crafts, called “Izon”. In addition, she is the author of educational program “Izonit as a kind of arts and crafts” (Moscow). Olga Voronova is a permanent participant of local and regional art exhibitions (Omsk, Pereslavl-Zaleski, Moscow, St. Petersburg, Uglich, Rybinsk and others.)
